Wednesday Evening Ride 27th May

Post by StephF »

This week the ride will be led by David Beeley of Big Bear Bikes.

Meet on the road outside the Horse Shoe Inn at Levisham, 18:45 for a 19:00 prompt start.

Sounds like a good one - it's mostly singletrack :D

Please post if you are coming

Going to try and make this. Working in Oldham during the day but should get back to York in time, hopefully.

Is the Singletrack technical or will MTB novices like me be able to cope ok?

I do not know his route but I'd say you will be fine Dan, I think it is more swoopy fun singletrack.

I need a lift

Post by Manolo »

Hi there,

I would like to go, it is one of my favourite routes! Nonetheless, I would need a lift from York this time because I won't have my car for a few weeks.

If there were someone with space and patience to give me (and my bike) a lift, I'd go.

I can tell many Spanish stories during the trip if that helps.

Best,
Manolo.

I would be struggling to get back from work to York and out again to pick someone up and I'm still not 100% sure I'll be there. So sorry Manolo not this time.

Manolo - Out of interest where abouts in York do you live?

New suggestion

Post by Manolo »

Thanks StephF and Dan. No prob if it is not possible this time.

In any case, would it work for anybody if I am picked up somewhere in the A64 going to Malton? I wouldn't mind at all to cycle a few kilometres if that were better. I'll keep an eye on the forum until 17:00 and, if I am not lucky this time (and by that time), I would go then for a ride by myself around York.

So as I said before, no prob at all if it were not possible today :-).

Manolo.

Oh, by the way, I live close to Skeldergate (to Dan) right at the heart of the city!

Anybody have better luck than me getting to Levisham?

Just after I left home my car satnav was telling me the road between Malton and Pickering was blocked due to an accident. I decided to take the scenic route via Castle Howard, Slingsby, Kirbymoorside then to Pickering only then did I find out the road was closed north of Pickering.

By this time it was 6:50pm and after checking the road map realised there were no other ways to Levisham so turned for home. I only then thought I should have asked the person manning the road block to see if the road was closed after the Levisham turn off, too late by then!

Oh well will Christen the bike another day! Hope the rest of you had a better evening.

Well I'd never been there before, luckily Manolo knew the way. Through Thornton le Dale up past the the entrance for Dalby forest then left towards Lockton and it's signposted from there.

Really nice ride, despite all my mechanical woopsies!

Cheers Dave.
