Cycling in Mallorca

Post by At the back as usual »

Does anyone have any info on cycling routes in Mallorca, where's best to stay etc. I've heard that Puerto Pollensa is a good place as a base camp?

Looking at going out there shortly and would appreciate any advice from people who have cycled there before. Also if anyone has GPX files they could email to me I would be grateful.

Thanks in advance

Can't advise on routes but I'm going to Majorca in April for a week and staying in Puerto Pollensa, I understand it's a good Place to stay.

Going on a training camp run by Dave Le Grys, had it recommended and Dave knows what he's talking about as he's an ex world champion and world record holder.

Cheers Dan, had looked at his training camps but I can't make his dates

If you have GPX files from the routes I would be grateful if you could email them to me when you get back

Will email GPX files. We also get maps and route guides for the training camp before we head to Majorca. Will copy and forward them too if they'd help. When are you going? PM me your email address please.

Puerto Pollensa is ideal. You can ride into the mountains or pick some rolling routes inland or ride to the Lighthouse, you cannot miss Majorca is great.

Puerto Pollensa

Post by cyclingnewbie »

Hi

I'm relatively new to cycling although not bad at it. I am fine on the roads, not mad keen on huge hills and can cover distance (just did a cycling holiday in Tenerife and over 1 day did 750 of climb and about 6 hours of cycling. Do about 40 miles at weekends, but that's my limit!).

I am going to Mallorca soon, staying at Pollensa. Would like to cycle to some nice beaches, as I say, don't mind a bit of distance but would like a nice balance of cycling/beach.

My boyfriend is much more gung ho, but I think we need a balance. Plus he'd probably like a day of mountain biking (without me!).

Any advice, please?

The cycle out to Formentor is lovely and there are beaches on the way!

From Pollenca ride out to Sa Calobra, lovely little bay and a nice steady ride  Just done it!

If your staying in Port de Pollenca make sure you go to Tolo's.
