I think it should have been about 10 degrees colder to make it the sort of weather that Rob and Paul feel truly at home in.

Hah! yes me too like in 2001 when only myself and Ian Kent got round when it snowed! Yesterday was a day that simply didnt happen for me. Woke up feeling off colour like I was coming down with something. And this was confirmed as soon as I swung my leg over the bike. I dislike warm wet and windy days at the best of time and had gone way over dressed. Stayed out of trouble on the B-road near the front. From where I was, the group looked ok but I wasnt looking behind! A brief turn at the front through Huby and stayed in the wheels upto Crayke but I couldnt press on the pedals and decided enough was enough at Oulston and turned for home after watching you all go past. A bit sad really as I've organised this since 1994 and finished all but one when my bike fell apart.
However I was just the pseudo-organiser this year and all credit must go to Andy J and his family for the signing on, organising the village hall and the food. I'm really pleased everyone got round ok and the event went well.

Reliability ride

Post by bernard turgoose »

We had a very steady group of six & finished in just over 5 hours, after taking a battering from Malton & certainly wasn't looking forward to Birdsall at all.
And despite trying to break it down in too smaller sections the wind finally got the better of me about 100 metres from the trees when it nearly had me horizontal with a gust from the right - I decided to walk the most exposed part of the remaining element.
And then having to pedal down Acklam was just scary.
Well done to all the finishers & especially to Andy & his team for organising things but especially the pasta at the end

Had a good reliable reliability ride, tagged onto various groups, mtb, racing s and then Hovingham to Malton hanging onto Alan who was flying. Thanks to Andy and everyone for organising the event/food and photo Ian!
