Tan Hill, this Sunday

Post by Rob »

With the Met-men competing with each other for adjectives to describe this weekend's weather, I guess we have to be a little circumspect. However, we'll leave the final decision as late as possible. Fingers crossed.

Looking at the forecast and with very few miles in my legs, I've decided to put my name down for some overtime on sunday instead.

Yet to miss a weekend ride this year and don't expect this to be any different. If the roads stay dry it will be ok. The forecast seems to change every hour or so but the Dales aren't forecasting any snow yet? I'm not so worried about the cold - you just wear more but at least we wont be getting blown off the road like 2 years ago! See you Sunday Rob.

Well, your both braver than me at least. Not been out for a while myself due to the weather and illness.

If you guys do go on Sunday have a good ride and I look forward to reading your acounts next week.

Jon :)

0700 in the Square.

Wrap up!

Looking forward to this - should be a great adventure. None of us, not even the great Muzzy, have done quite as much as we'd have liked over the last few weeks, so am planning to ride a little more conservatively than usual.

See you there.

Hi Rob

Won't be there, need to be back by 6.30 so not confident that we will be.

Have a good ride

Been out for a couple of hours around the lanes around York on my MTB and there's a lot of puddles of black ice on the back roads, and you know what that's like, you can be on your back before you've even had time to ready yourself for the fall. At least in the day you can see the puddles, not so easy in the dark. Throw in a lot of traffic about with the drivers too stressed out with getting presents to worry about whether they're driving responsibly.

I know it's hard to find two more experienced competent cyclists than you, but I wouldn't do it this weekend (not even if I was fit enough) I'd be scared to death for significant parts of the ride. Hope you have a safe day.

Hi, I've decided not to come along tomorrow. Good luck to all those sallying forth, hat off to you.

Are you seriously riding to Tan Hill today? I reckon 2 hours around Selby today is hardcore.
