First non stop training ride for a while ready for 2011. Sunshine and dry roads with seven of us out for the ride. The regular racers from the non-stop rides, John, Tim, Tom & Cam were out along with a gentleman from the pub night (I'm sorry I really should know your name) doing a sterling job on a winter bike with full mudguards and a much diminished since I'd seen him last time, Ruben. Diminished in that he was some 15Kgs lighter, I'd guess Ruben will have a strong year considering he'll have the same engine powering him that he had then.
It turned out exactly what I was hoping for in that it was hard enough to get my heart rate up into regions it hasn't been for a few months but not so fast that I had to ask people to slow up. Don't think it was easy for me though as by about half way my turns on the front consisted of going through but then straight across and off again. The two "climbs": the small rise up past the transmitter mast on route to Stillington and the bridge over the A64 after Naburn required my maximum effort to avoid dropping out of the line, but still I managed it and couldn't help being quite pleased about that (suppose it will be different once we're onto more undulating roads).
A great training ride - thanks chaps.
