There's been lots of discussion recently about stuff to do in the Winter, so here's some outline plans:
Club Night Rides - consesus is that Fridays suit everyone's lifestyle better as it allows a longer ride, a social pub stop after and no 'school' in the morning. Obviously these won't be every week as they clash with weekends away, s@*t weather etc. Any ideas for ride locations welcome??
Evening rides - there's a few option at the moment for those wanting a brisk evening ride out from York for training (on road). Distances are circa 30-35m, ave is 17-18mph. Get in touch if interested.
The next weekend away is planned for Feb, probably to Wales as it's fairly 'all weather'. Any ideas for location or volunteers to organise are always welcome. The following weekend away will be to the Howgills, between the Dales and Cumbria. Great area that is often missed due to most people opting for the Lakes. Watch this space!
I've an idea for a 'Winter Lecture'. Something fitness related to keep you all motivated through the dark months. This will probably be in Jan sometime.
Lastly, anyone that wants a bit of friendly competition through Winter, NYMBO are running their Lanequests again. These are based at a Pub, 2 hour courses and as competitive as you want to make them but don't score towards a league. See www.nymbo.org.uk for details.

I like the idea of Friday night club rides as it suits my working hours better.
I need to start training again, since breaking my collar bone I've not done any cycling whether road or off road and now feel I'm back at square one again for fitness which in turn is putting me off from going out. Also my job hasn't helped as I've been working away from home Monday to Friday for the past five months stopping me from doing any evening rides so like the idea of Friday nights.
