SPOCO 29th - NOTES FOR MARSHALS

Post by cath »

Apols as normally send out an email, but I dont have internet at home so am on my Dads computer with no email address book:

Tim R
Heather
Shaun
Pete S
David Ch
Martin Hinch
Bernard
Mac

Can youplease report to Tim at the start no later than 7 - if you are going to be later can you post here so that he knows you're still coming.

After the lsat rider has started, can one of the starters please go and marshal the t-junction to ensure that traffic is aware of riders speeding past to the finish.

Marshal FAQ for anyone not done it before:

What is my job? you stand on a junction wearing a bright orange bib and make sure the riders go the right way.

What can't I do? Unlike a marshal in a BC road race you have no legal authority at all. You must not interfere with traffic in any way. What you can do is be as visible as possible and make big pointy gestures to approaching riders, this will make any oncoming cars aware that the race is taking place. You cannot wave, direct or ask drivers to slow down (unless they stop and ask you of course).

It is entirely up to the rider to slow down and stop for traffic - if they don't, it's not your fault.

What do I do after the race? return to the start and hand in your marshals bib. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU PRINT YOUR NAME ON THE HELPERS SHEET SO THAT I KNOW WHO HAS DONE WHAT AT THE END OF THE SERIES.
