3 Bridges

Post by Rob »

Shared emails with MarkA yesterday about this event and thought it was worth a reminder to get your entry in. Its a measely £2 and you'll find an entry form on the AUK website. The ride starts in Stamford Bridge on Saturday week. The route goes over the Humber Bridge, Trent Bridge on the edge of Scunthorpe and over the Ouse at Boothferry. That description doesn't really do the route justice and it is surprisingly pleasant with big skies and roads rarely travelled.

The route is largely flat and with some group riding it'll probably be the most accessible 100miler you'll ever do.

See you there.

A veritable Carlsberg of an event, a couple of hundred metres from home - what more can I ask.

All things being equal I'll meander down to the village hall, endure the trials and tribulations of the day then stagger back home again.

Can I EOL?
Indeed. The more the merrier.

But it would make my life easier if anyone planning on riding but unable to pre-enter could

a) drop me a PM or email to expect you
b) download and print off your own route sheet
c) turn up with completed entry form and correct change!

Please also allow a bit of extra time if you are riding out from the square. It can get a bit hectic with all the paperwork close to setting off. Having arrived a bit earlier you can be the one enjoying a cup of tea before setting off.

I'll be coming if I'm at home and not busy.

Is there a couple of groups planning on riding? Like slow and fast groups?

I see kick-off is at 9.00am from Stamford Bridge. I’ll probably ride out to the start…Is anyone else up for a ride out from the Square? Also, I’m not sure what’s the best departure time from the Square? Does 8.00am give us enough time to ride out there and check in, etc? Thanks.

But BW, as an AUK member you could enter and pay automagically online!

Sorry, wasn't I meant to out you as an AUK member? You'll have to grow a beard now to fit the stereotype.

This may help if it works....

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/38751163

Disclaimer: This route is the one followed about 4 years ago when I last attempted this. So it may have changed since.

Please ignore the stats, I've discovered I can upload routes in gpx format to the Garmin site - even though I don't actually own a Garmin so couldn't actually record speed data etc. I think their software just assumes walking pace (which wasn't that far from the truth!)

That route is a very good start, well done Pete

From the second year we ran it i think?

The only changes are to navigation around Goole

And slight difference to route home to avoid stretch on A road

Added about another 5 or 6k iirc but safer / more pleasant and means you will cross the magic 100 mile mark
