Vintage Stronglight Crank Puller

Post by resus1uk »

Winter trike project is a trike, it's rideable now.

I need a 23.5mm x 1.5 mm old sized crank puller. Modern 22mm pullers don't fit. Even a TA 23mm would strip the threads.

Stronglight changed about 1982, these vintage cranks are lovely but I need to change the chainrings from 52/43 to something more appropriate for a pensioner to climb the Wolds.

52t was alright in my time trial days; back in the late 60's/early 70's along the A1 in the early morning to Blyth or evenings Cowthorpe to Wetherby & back.

Any one in York area got a thirty year old crank puller I could borrow/buy?

Or know which LBS understands trikes & may kept have a vintage puller.

Car hub splitters or gear pullers are the brutal last option but I dont want to damage the frame or BB.

Have you tried Spa Cycles in Harrogate?

Thanks, enquiry in with Spa, also a positive reply from a Tricycle Association contact in Harpenden.

Spa did a good job with the front wheel build for the trike & I'll get them to rebuild the rear wheels soon once I have sorted out the gears.
