Frame spraying

Post by scrumpydave »

Anyone have any experience of this? I want to renovate my old steel racer. I was told that Cycle Heaven did this but I called them and apparently they don't. Does anyone know anywhere local that does this, what sort of price I should expect to pay and whether it will improve the durability of the bike?

Thanks

Dave

Bob Jackson frame builders in West Yorkshire are recommended. Also Dave Yates in Lincolnshire are very good, I used them a few years ago and they did a top job.

Thanks for your help. My wife's folks live in Lincs so I'll give Dave Yates a ring. Good as new by the summer!

I used Bob Jackson's (off the Leeds ringroad at Bramley) in the autumn to rebuild & respray my veteran trike in a nice crimson enamel.

The trike dates from about 1953 & needed a lot of work & bringing upto date to be a good machine.

Whole process takes time so don't be in a hurry.

Spa in Harrogate were good for wheel-building as the front wheel takes a lot of stress from braking on a trike. I opted for a hub brake which they said was a difficult build.

CH didn't understand the type of wheel needed for a hub brake, so Spa got the job.

I also fitted a double pivot caliper instead of the double Weinmann centre pulls from the fifties.
