Dave, I am going to the beer festival on Saturday night but will also be doing the Saturday H ride, I must be a glutton for punishment but at least I will work up a thirst.

Fair enough - I'm hoping my knee has improved enough to allow me to make it but won't be up to hammering it round so we'll see.

Shouldn't that be:
I think after "it", but before "but", you need a ",".
?

Thought Doctors dispensed with unnecessary, punctuation - anyway as nobody can read what they're on about anyway;

It's nearly all computers with word processors now so the illegible ink-smear is fading into history. That plus the child-like handwriting style we were all taught since the 60s.

As for the Lynne Truss pedantry school of punctuation - they're not many of us either!
