Sunday club runs from 2 August
A message from Captain Helen:
Following on from the tremendous support shown for the Tan Hill ride on a separate thread, I would love to see as many riders as possible tackle the ride on 23 Augsut. So as promised, to help us all prepare for the challenge I will be plotting a 100 mile ride for this Sunday with a few hills in - cafe stop at Markington.
We can then build over the next 2 weeks to make sure that everyone is fit and confident enough to get round happily on the day.
Please would anyone interested in coming let me know by replying to this post. Anyone just interested in a Sunday club run is more than welcome as well of course.
Thanks
Helen

Like you said, Will, [on the other thread] the Group H ride is "pretty flat". I'll let you decide if that means it is good preparation for Tan Hill or not.
Given your level of fitness it may well be, but Helen is putting these next few Sunday rides on especially to help those who want to work on their distance and climbing before Tan Hill.
The other way to look at it is do you fancy a 100 mile Sunday Club Run with a stop in Markington? One of the great things about the club is the range of choice we give members.
Just a reminder then that Helen asked anyone coming on Sunday to post here if poss.

Can't make it this sunday but wanting to do the next couple. Luckily as no-one else wanted to ride on tuesday I sent myself 100 miles with plenty of climbing, so I'm considering my self pretty much trained for this week.
Still not sure if I can make the actual Tan Hill ride, but I'll put some miles in the legs in prep anyhow.
See y'all next weekend.

Hi there I hope everyone enjoyed last week's ride.
This week's ride will be longer with more climbing but hopefully still enjoyable.
We will head out to Hutton-le-Hole up the bank ,Wasdale, cafe stop Osmotherly, across the moors,Kilburn(poss ice cream stop) and back to York.
In terms of effort, thinking of last week's route, it would be as demanding after the care as before.
If anyone feels that it may be to long for them for what ever reason there is the option of turning for home at Farndale turn of or taking a more direct route home from Osmotherly.
If you let me know if you would like to take that option let me know and I will bring along some route maps.
