Regular 3 or 4 hour weekend ride?

A place to talk about anything! Want to find someone to ride with? Get help on mending things? Organise lifts?

The reason I'd be interested is if they are faster than the "social rides", as I can use it as a different sort of training then on some weeks.

Will - read BroomWagon's first post.

"20 mph on the flat", "not a burn up".

I'd expect it to be slower than Horward's ride on the hills, and 20mph rolling (not average) on the flat isn't that fast. If you want a fast training ride, this probably isn't it given your fitness.

Oh right, I thought 20mph was the minimum speed.

Does that make sense?
That makes perfect sense Tom. I was mainly attempting in my post to make the points that it's reasonably straightforward to know beforehand which social ride may suit and of an approximate return time for that ride.

No problems at all with the resurrection of the training ride or, indeed, any other ride!

Anyone still fancy a ride of this sort? Bishopthorpe-Tadcaster-Collingham-Spofforth has been suggested. Seems a good idea, well known roads, nothing too hard so we can see how it goes.

We could meet at the Millennium bridge, Saturday 9am sharp.

Any takers?

Will it be around 60ish miles? If I do the TT this week I am thinking of doing this ride as after a TT 1 day recovery is not enough for a century ride.

It'd be about that.

Can't make it this week I'm afraid, but let's hope it can become a regular(ish) event and I look forward to joining in shortly.

Sorry, with only two definites and one possible for tomorrow I think we're going to have to abandon this idea. If the traditional all day café ride is a bit awkward for you sometimes, you could always go along to one of the established rides, ride out with the group for a couple of hours and then turn and head for your own route home. If there's a few of you it could work quite well. I'm sure Howard and Kevin would be accommodating.

For me, a bit of a lay off the bike altogether and more family time beckons for a while, so it’s the archetypal day at the beach with the sprogs tomorrow :-)

Oh blimey, I was looking forward to it too. Ok, having told the kiddos they're having a day out tomorrow, they're having a day out, but never say die.

How about SUNDAY 9.00am the millennium bridge?
If we get three or more yesses on here before Sunday morning to that, I'll be there for a ride if not, I'll stay in bed - come on there's 200 Clifton people, this must suit for more than three people.
