SPOCO 11th June - Riders' Notes

Post by Iain M »

Hi,

Here are the Riders' Notes for this Thursday's SPOCO:

1. Please keep off the roads in the Start/Finish area, be considerate of local residents & other road users. After you finish, please do not bother the Timekeeper.
2. Marshall's are only there to indicate direction, they cannot direct traffic. It is up to you to make sure that it is safe to proceed.
3. This event takes place on the public highway – riders must obey the Highway Code at all times.
4. The roads through Whenby are single-track, be aware of traffic and horses, especially farm traffic.
5. Most of the roads are unclassified country lanes, be aware of mud and other debris as well as poor road surfaces. Always ride within your ability.
6. Clifton CC encourages all riders to wear a hard shell cycle helmet – riders under the age of 18 must wear a helmet.

Thanks Andy. It would be good if you could get there for 7 to meet the organiser, Ian Holmes.

My parents can marshall to if you need any more, since they are taking me anyway.

With a few exceptions most of the marshalls volunteering aren't riding the events (thanks to all who have made the effort so far). Just wondering when the rest were planning to make the commitment as we are averaging nearly 40 riders per event and you will have to help at one to qualify? There are only so many helpers required at each event. So far organisers are having to appeal for help each week which I don't understand. Surely its better to get it out of the way rather than give the organisers the headache of trying to find jobs for everyone at the end of the series?
