Tuesday night TLI Race Series....

Post by PhilBixby »

....starts next week - Tuesday at 7:00pm. Full details on the series website at http://www.yorkshiretliseries.net/

I've had an email from the series organisers with two requests...

They've had a lot of pre-entries for the series already, but not many from Clifton. So, if you reckon you're likely to ride at least a few of the eight events (do five and marshal one and your results will count towards an overall placing) get a pre-entry in now, or at least post on here so we can pass on details to the organisers. It'd be a shame to turn up and then not get a ride, especially if you've been out hammering round Acaster airfield specially.

Secondly, and related to this, they need volunteers to marshal the first event. If you're doing the series, why not get your marshalling duty out of the way for starters (you'll be joint series leader for the second race!)? Again, if you can do it, post on here and we'll pass it on.

And just to bang the drum for the series one more time, if you're thinking about having a crack at road racing, this is an excellent way in. It's local, the events are handicapped so you go off in a manageable-sized group of riders of similar ability, if you work well together you stand a chance of good results, each event has prizes, plus there are trophies for the overall series placings. The circuits are pretty safe and the atmosphere's good. There are always Clifton riders there, and lifts can be sorted out via here.

So... ...who's up for it? Who's going next week and who's prepared to marshal? (I did the first one last year - it's someone else's turn!)

Hi Tim

It's cheaper to enter the series if you plan on doing most of the events. It also makes life much easier for the organisers as (a) they then have a better idea of numbers (b) they can sort out marshalling duties with you and (c) there's less faffing around taking payments every night. The organisers are all volunteers so anything that smooths the running of it is appreciated. series entry is via http://www.yorkshiretliseries.net/the-series - just download the entry form and send it with a cheque, or take completed form and cheque to first event and let me know you're doing so (I'll tell the organisers to expect it).

Phil, I've joined TLI, I'll be there on Tuesday. I'm going to enter on the day. Due to clashes with other things I'm expecting to ride five of the series and Marshall one.

Hi Tim

If you've sent the cheque to Cliff & Brenda then they'll be there on Tuesday.

I'd get there for six-ish - the race starts at 7:00 and you'll need time to sign on, get sorted, get warmed up and ride out to the start.

Hi Phil,

I do intend to ride some of these, but I'm not sure how many yet, and definitely I can't make the first. I intend to EOL for those that I can make. Not sure if this is any help to the organisers...

Good luck to all those riding on Tue.

Jason.

As Arthur says, the first of the series is the least inspiring circuit by a long way (but it's easy to marshal, which is why the organisers use it - it's always hard to sign up marshals in advance of the series). Starts just south of roundabout to south of Boroughbridge, round the roundabout, down to Walshford roundabout, back up to first roundabout, down to Walshford again, back up to first roundabout, round it and sprint up gentle hill to finish line. Think of it as good chaingang practice with a chance of a prize if you can hang on in there when the fast bunch sweeps up everyone.

I couldn't make it in the end because of family stuff. How did it go? Looked like a fine evening for racing from here...
