CHAIN GANG THURSDAY EVENING (16th )?

Yes but judging by the time it took for my shifters to come back I'll be off cycling and unfit for like 5 weeks, as I go back to Manchester on sunday and wont be back for 10 weeks, I need a new frame before sunday and I've been looking for a new frame and I was a reliable frame (like something from cannondale), I can flog the genesis on ebay.PhilBixby wrote:Have you spoken to Piers at CH? I'm sure Ridgeback should take care of that if it's within - or almost within - warranty period...

Richard, head out of town through Bishopthorpe, and on towards the road to Appleton Roebuck. At the T at the end, if you turn left then keep going right, you'll pick us up as we go round the other way to get left turns.

Unsure, even the people at the shop could not tell what it was, they went and bought a magnifying glass and was still unsure, I think he said it's also cracked on the other side but hard to tell if it is a crack.
I doubt Cycle heaven would lend me a bike of equal spec and then let me zoom off to Manchester on it for 10 weeks now would they!?!?

Absolutely!PhilBixby wrote:Why not ask them? If I had a frame crack in under a year I certainly wouldn't just be shrugging my shoulders and buying another one!
Also, I can't say I'd be impressed if the staff used magnifying glasses to inspect it as well. It wouldn't be ideal if the frame separated as you were descending at a pace.
They dont provide road bikes, only a MTB, and unfortunatly I cant do club runs with that.
I can risk it financially but if I dont get a job in the summer holidays which I really want to do them I am in deep trouble tbh.
So I might just have to wait it out, just I'm worried about how frustrated I'll be when I finally start cycling again in 10-20 weeks to find out my fitness has dropped and I wont be happy. I dont want to start running I will get gauranteed knee problems doing that they aint the best atm already.

Will, it's simple. Assuming that you haven't misused/abused the bike then I recommend the following:
1. If the frame has cracked at just over a year this is unacceptable. You should state this to the shop and ask what they are going to do about it - either get the frame repaired or supply an equivalent.
2. If you have to go back to Manchester without your bike then so be it. Leave it at the shop having established that a fix - acceptable to you - is going to be completed.
3. If you need a bike in Manc then borrow one or buy a cheap heap from ebay, an advert in the local paper etc etc
4. Return from Manchester to collect the bike once it has been repaired.
Personally I also think that the club should maybe make representation as we have a relationship with CH and need to be confident that they are going to be responsive to people who use them because of this relationship.
