I'm planning a slightly longer steadier ride this week (legs still shredded after Saturday ). To make a change we could head West towards Otley, an option of an extension to Ilkley, then back via Dacre and Summerbridge.
Gill suggested meeting on the West side of town somewhere - or even Tockwith. I was wondering about the Crossroads just beyond Tockwith (near the Kerwood Kitchens turning) at 9:45. If most people are happier with the usual Square at 9:15 that's OK - can people post here and we'll make a plan.
I shall be out tomorrow and I am happy to meet up at the Kerwood/Tockwith turn of. How are you planning to get to Otley? I would normally head out via Wetherby. What you are suggesting seems a lot longer than our normal distance. I would think about Fewston or how about going out via Bishop Monckton to Markington cross country to Summerbridge,Dacre Bank, time check and decide which route to take back.
We can decide the exact route when we meet - weather looks fine so no worries re this. Perhaps just see where we end up. Helen is the expert on roads out that way so anything that gives us a steady 70ish with a lunch stop is fine by me.
How about Gill (and Mandy?) meet Dave at the Square for 9:15 then come out through Tockwith (via Askham Richard & Long Marston?) to meet Helen and I at the 'Kerwood crossroads' for 9:45?
Dr Dave, if Gill was suggesting west side of York or Tockwith then I can meet you all at Tockwith also. Is that the xroads near the ind estate/business park on road to Cowthorpe?
I should be out tomorrow and be at Tockwith at 9.45am. I am not feeling too good at the moment but will text Dr Dave if I am not coming. I have texted Mandy and will let her know it is Tockwith.
Excellent ride today - sorry to have missed Gill C who wasn't feeling 100% so sensibly had a rest day. Dave C, Mandy, Helen and I met at Tockwith Crossroads. Helen lead us out via Cowthorpe, Spofforth, Pannal, Beckwithshaw, Fewston, Timble, to Otley. Here a nice cafe stop was taken before a steady return via Farnley Lane, Castley, Weeton, Sicklinghall and Wetherby, then back.
Thanks to all for another good day - 70 miles clocked by the time I got home - Dave must have been pushing 90.
