Re: Bank Holiday Weekend Roundup

A K ride with a difference for me on Saturday. Different in that it was probably the smallest but fastest K ride I've ever been on. Just Craig, Ian and myself left the square with Kevin after the fairly large group was split between the Ilkley ride and an impromptu ride to the Wolds.

The promised ...

Re: Weekend roundup 16/17 August

The York 100 once again for me in what were possibly the windiest conditions I've ever ridden in!

It's the first time I've seen group riding as an absolute necessity just to make any progress at all on the way back. I think finding a group that worked well is the only reason I managed to finish at ...

Re: TdF "K Ride" Special Sat 5th July

Just a quick note to say a thank you to Kevin for this ride - the plan worked like a charm. Great route, great ride and great views of the race. We hardly saw any traffic until we were in Masham apart from when we crossed the A1. I actually felt sorry for all the car drivers below us! Masham was an ...

Nope - not me....

I did cross the finish with Billy though who was wearing his Clifton gear.

It was another great day - for sheer atmosphere, it is second to none.

TDF live data feed

For all the geeks out there....

A mashup of the route with performance data from a subset of riders.

http://data.srmlive.de/TDF/

At the start it was quite something to see them riding at 20 mph and note that their heart rate is still lower than mine when I'm asleep! (Could explain a few things ...

Etape Caledonia for me on Sunday 15th :-

I've been trying to build up to this for the last couple of months since on paper at least it appeared to be pretty hard (for me). I think they quote the same total ascent as the Pock Pedal - which nearly killed me. So it was with some trepidation that I ...

Not sure how to start this reply .... perhaps ... "It's not the winning it's the taking part that counts!"... would set the tone?!

Well take part I certainly did and - most importantly - I too finished 'The Pock Pedal' . Apart from feeling like an extra in the film "Twister" at times it really was ...

Weekend round-up 23rd/24th April.

Another K-ride for me as it was for at least another 14 riders.

The classic combination of Heat + Hills meant I was suffering by the time I got home - but the views of the moors in the sun was well worth it.

Two stats recorded by the Garmin that ...

Great weather today and a really good route for the K-riders.

I confess to running out of steam before the cafe but somehow found a second wind on the return leg. The healing qualities of baked beans and cake (not together) shouldn't be under estimated!

Weekend round-up 09/10 April

I was faced with a dilemma this morning: Dad's Taxi "had to be" available by 13:30 but my cycling "ambitions" still required the equivalent of an 8.0 magnitude K-Ride as preparation.

The solution was to get up early and catch the 06:40 train to Scarborough then cycle back home. It's one of my ...

After an unscheduled week off due to man flu I rejoined the K-Ride and enjoyed the company of 8 riders heading out as advertised to Malton.

This week I learned to never take my eyes off the lead rider as I found myself all alone at the bottom of the climb out of Kirkby Underdale. Undeterred - I ...

K-Ride update.

A tactical change at the last moment took us on a different route to that originally advertised. Under the careful stewardship of Kevin we followed a new route (new to me at least) up to Beadlem near Hemsley.

I don't have any technology to record where we went exactly other than my ...
