I'll just say I will miss Will's postings in this discussion board when he returns to Uni.

The cracked frame might explain the noise he's been hearing around the crank area though or did it appear after Saturdays rides down the hill with the gullies.

Good to hear that "It's all been sorted now".

Hope you'll enjoy riding the new bike.

I don't personally have a high opinion of Cycle Heaven, so it would be good for my prejudice to hear you've had some good service from them on this forum, perhaps?

Hope the new term at Manchester Uni goes well for you. Rob and I had a fantastic Easter Sunday ride out from Alderley Edge - a round loop to Hartington via Pott Shrigley, Axe Edge, Crowdecote and back via Flash, a minor road climb of Cat & Fiddle, the Goyt Valley and Bollington - try it - spectacular & we managed to choose remarkedly quiet roads for the Peak District!

I'll give my new bike a test run tommorow, I'll do about 6 miles I think get the position right then give it a quick run over 30mph, sort of to christen the bike

Yea those are brilliant roads, do them regular, I try to include Alderly Edge in every ride now though as I like to get Swiss Hill in

This Cannondale is from Haxby Cycles, I dont know what to think of Cycle Heaven, they are certianly miles better than Halfords and I guess they've been ok, I dont like to bad mouth companys much though.

I'm abit worried about the new bike though, I'm thinking of never ever riding it in the wet, but I'll have to sometimes, I just dont want the frame to get battered like my Aether frame did, it was chipped everywhere and you'd think it was been abused badly!, weird thing is I dont know how half of the chips got there it's not as if I go around with a screw driver gouging bits of paint out!! I want this bike to stay perfect and never have any problems like my Aether did!!

I have one of those saddles on my winter bike. It's really great.................if you enjoy sitting on a knife edge and developing a numb.............

The Arione is better but still not brilliant. I'm now trying a new Selle Italia which - touch wood - seems more comfortable

Does anybody else think this is an important issue? - by carrying their logo around we, implicitly, recommend them. And at times on here we recommend them explicitly too! Their actions reflect on us as a club. Will is exactly the sort of young inexperienced rider that we should be relying on them to look after.

Not sure Will is giving us the full story, but on the face of it - it doesn't sound great does it?

Rob I agree absolutely - as I think can be inferred from my previous posting. I also think CH have been less than 100% ideal regarding the club clothing and a few other issues.

Unfortunately, as you suggest, I'm not sure that Will has optimised his own circumstances and I can imagine that this may have compromised their ability to help him - makes it more difficult to judge their response.

I'd start by storing it in a proper place, on hooks on the wall even. That shed you're using looks too small and not even weatherproof.

That 'shed' is where my rabbit and guinea pig live

The place where I store my bike is weatherproof and windproof and has a nice big boiler in there.

As I understand it CH have taken a look at the frame and aren't sure if it is actually cracked, but they've agreed to send the frame back to the distributors and get it resolved ASAP. I'm not sure it's fair to give CH a kicking in the meantime.

Ditch the saddle Will - its making my eyes water just looking at it.
I got my Cannondale six13 from Evans sale a couple of years ago and took the Arione saddle off it without even trying it as I knew we wouldn't be compatible and sold it as new on ebay. I've had a few saddles since but bought a Selle Italia Gel flow saddle this year - one of those with the slot in the middle which has quite a bit of flex in it and is perfect. I like my Cannondale but the ride is a bit harsh so you need all the help you can get!

Saddles are an extremely personal choice. I've used a lot of different ones over the years, which have varied from ok to utterly unuseable. The best by far I've found for me are these and I have them on all my bikes:

I keep making the odd foray into getting something lighter and groovier but nothing seems as comfortable.
