I've received a plea from Wheel-Easy's excellent Malcolm & Gia Margolis, which I've copied'n'pasted below:-
We are writing to all cycling contacts in North Yorkshire with this vital request.
Please sign Cycle Harrogate’s online petition for a County Council Cycling Officer. Go to http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/north-yorkshire-county-council-employ-a-cycling-officer. Do it now. It only takes a moment and you’ll see why it’s so important from the comments of the 60 people who’ve already signed (17/10/12). Please sign, forward this to other cyclists to sign, and help turn 60 into many hundreds. We are asking cycling groups throughout North Yorkshire and anyone who cycles in the county to support this petition.
We’ve been lobbying for a cycling officer for years. The County Council told us they are considering whether to fund this post, which could mean they are serious or they could go on considering for years. Strong support for the petition could be decisive.
Cycle Harrogate’s blog is at www.cycleharrogate.org.
