I don't know if anyone from the club knew him, but I note Graham Wanless has sadly died. He was a reasonably regular entrant to our own Tanhill Audax and rode many of the local Audax rides. Reading his obituary he started riding as a teenager with his father but soon got better and then joined a club progressing on to racing. In later years he clearly became a long distance rider clocking up over 300,000 miles. It's said of him that he never minded knocking it off a mile or two when he saw people were struggling. One of my recollections of him, is him being on my wheel on a drag and then smoothy riding by when the pace got too steady - despite him being a good 25 years older than I and at that time probably recovering from an aortic valve replacement.
