I've placed an entry via the online system today for the 185 km option which seems to have been accepted. Any other Cliftonites riding this?

Gill, Steph F and I entered some time ago for the 185. I thought it would make a nice change from the Etape Du Dales this year.

Hi,

I have riden this for last two years, and will be riding this next year again> Its a great ride, I know the organiser is trying to make it the toughest sportive in the UK, so it get tougher each year :). Its a great ride and would recommend it to any sportive riders. There are three distances to choose from so something for everyone.

I will be doing the 185km, but as Clifton is my second club :( I will be riding under Obrcoaching Colours. Happy to hook up along route though.

Cheers
Fin

Hello Everyone Above

Now just got to buy some ultra light all carbon climbing wheels and carry on with, whoops I mean resume, the personal weight loss programme and I might be OK!

I've entered the 185.

All being well, there'll be a new baby in April so this is a little tentative, but I'm hoping to be allowed out for the day :)

The entry list is now up at

http://bcyorkshire.co.uk/White%20Rose%2 ... y_list.php

I'm not on there, but my money has been taken and I got a confirmation email at the time so I'm chasing it. I suggest anyone else who has entered check.

The only riders listed as Clifton CC there today are:

Dave Cook Male clifton cc Route 1: 185km
Chris Male clifton cycling club Route 1: 185km

Arthur, just checked and there are quite a few clifton riders including yourself on the list. Must have been updated since you last looked.

No, it's just senility on my part. I had 'match case' ticked in my search and the list is inconsistent in it's use of 'clifton' v 'Clifton'. Sigh,

Seems you can get your entry fee back if you help out at the Nationals:

The innovative cashback when riders at British Cycling Yorkshires Sportives volunteer at the National Road Race Championship has been extended to riders of the White Rose Classic. Participants of the Ryedale Rumble & now the White Rose Classic will receive 10 for helping at the Womens event on Saturday the 28th June or the Mens event on the 29th June, but can get all their entry fee of 25 back if helping on both days. Matthew Payne, part of the organising team from BC Yorks explains The cashback is really a token of thanks to all those who give up their time to help at the flagship event of Road Racing. The National Championships require a huge input from many more people than regularly help & without the support of VC York & the countless other volunteers, friends & family alike we could not stage an event of this scale. Simply tick the box when entering & the organisers will be in touch.

Anyone done this before? After my experiences of the 5 Dales can anyone advise on the existence or otherwise of feeding stops en route so I can plan to keep fueled up? (Hey, thinking 'fueled up' opens up all manner of possibilities for ensuring I get round - if the pros can do it......;) )

Hi Dave

I find keeping fueled up one of the most important things for endurance events, Including Carbo loading on the previous day or two before also keeping well hydrated the day before.

On the event the old saying of eat before your hungry and drink before you are thirsty is also true.

On long distance rides I always carry energy bars and gels and start using them quite early on in the ride so I never feel like I am ready to eat.

You will find details of the feeding stations on the link below.

It looks like the majority of riders will be starting from 8am onwards, I hope to start at 8am what's everyone else doing ?.

Cheers
