Inters/A-Ride for May 21

Just posting this in the hope that the Soggy Saturday forecast passes. The temperature looks fine, but I'm not keen on being out all day in the rain.

Evidently there's some interest in getting over to the Dales. Aysgarth returning via Kettlewell is best deferred until we have a nice warm day, but in the interim, I've been exploring Westward routes and came up with this little loop taking in Grassington and returning via Ilkley, Otley and Wetherby.

There appears to be lots of cafe options in Grassington, so I'm sure we'll find something to our taste..

165Km / ~102 miles square to square and a few lumpy bits along the way.

View and download the route at RidewithGPS or click the map.

Looks good Tony, my only comment is that the road on the north side of the Wharfe from Barden towards Storiths - and then crossing the river at the Cavendish pavilion - is quieter than the main road which can get a bit busy at times.
Of course, for those wishing to stretch themselves a bit there is the option to come back over Langbar dropping down again just before the bridge at Ben Rhydding :D
See you Saturday unless weather forecast deteriorates further....

Great route Tony, just one thing, road out of Ripley is a track and the a bit of bridleway, may be passable, never been that far down it. Option is to go out towards Burnt Yates, left down to Clint.

Cheers

Dave

According to my local cycle route guru the route from Ripley to Clint bank as shown on the map is a tarmacked cyclepath/lane so should be fine. :D

Incidentally as it's a reasonably taxing day out could we shorten it a wee bit by taking the A19 to Shipton instead of the Overton loop road?

Thanks guys. Yes, we certainly have options on the route, depending how we're feeling and the prevailing weather. We can chat in the square and/or customize en-route.

Since it's not (yet) pouring, I'm going to come out to play. I want to be home for 17:30 since there's a VERY important game on :D
