Inters/A-Ride for Apr. 02

Given the longer days and warming weather, I was asked if we could do a coastal run this week.

I'd been pondering this for a few weeks and discussed the option with a couple of people. Rather than the usual Bridlington and Filey routes, I thought it would be a nice change to try Flamborough Head.

According to Google, there's a sizable cafe at the lighthouse (Headlands Cafe), replete with outdoor seating and what appear to be excellent views.

168Km / 104 miles square to square.

Given the potential for a wet start, fenders are recommended :P

View and download the route at RidewithGPS or click the map.

I should be out tomorrow, but i will apologise in advance about having a 'fenderless' bike as i have dismantled the winter bike for an overhaul. Also i was been optimistic about the weather. :D I'll just stay at the back if its bad, which i do anyway i know  Its just the summer bike is already filthy from a midweek ride when after i'd just cleaned it and it promptly p***ed it down on me :( when i went out and i thought might as well get it even dirtier before i clean it again :). anyway the weather is forecast to brighten during the day :)

Can I let the rest of the inters know that I decided to abandon today's ride and head back. I apologise for not informing you guys but I punctured just before howsham bridge whilst off the back and couldn't really shout loud enough as you were all out of sight by the time I stopped. Hope you didn't wait for us too long. I figured it would be long day anyway and didn't want to delay things further. I changed the tube and headed back but then had a second flat which was a slow puncture so I kept stopping to put some air in. Got back about half one. It rained all the way back and then the sun came out  . I had to have my cafe stop at home so as not to feel too deflated had beans on toast shock horror :D . On the plus side I was able to give bike a clean as I normally wait until the following morning. Hope you had a good ride. Would be good to hear about it. How was the new cafe?. I will try again next week. :D
Incidentally for the record I still managed 61 miles door to door :D, so not all wasted effort.

Thanks for letting us know what happened Jon, we did wait for a while at the Gally Gap crossroads and James rode so far back to see if if he could see you.
Sorry to hear you had problems, it's difficult if your off the back then have a flat and have lost touch with the group, as usual you always get a longish ride in anyway so I hope you were happy with that, as for the rest of us myself Dave C Dr Dave and Pete S turned off towards Millington for lunch as I had to be back early, so I also await for the report of the guys who did the full ride.
