SPOCO TT 2016 Planning meeting

Calling all TT competitors, time keepers & organisers. :D

As promised, I suggested that after the 2015 series we should have a get together of a representative number of people to discuss what went well this year, what didn't go so well and what we could do to improve the series in terms of appeal to members, courses etc for 2016. There have been threads on the discussion board alluding to having repeats of some circuits to establish comparisons of times over the same course, dropping Bulmer Bank, weighted points systems etc. We won't please everyone but if we can put in place measures which encourage bigger fields, new faces, more women, ( actually some women, none in 2015), and more junior participants then that would be good for the health of the series and the club as a whole.

Everyone seems to have enjoyed the 2015 series so we have plenty of positives to build on .

How would people feel about a meeting one evening of the week commmencing the 9th November? York venue or elsewhere? Let me know who would be interested and I will firm up on a date, venue and time.

kind regards David

I'd prefer not the Tuesday, as that's the Tony Purnell lecture at St Peter's on cycling science (It's free, sign up here). Other than that, I think I can do any day. I'd prefer to be in York.

Oops, so it is.

In that case, I can do any day except Wednesday!

Hi All,

I have arranged a meeting for 7pm on Wednesday 11 November at Your Bike Shed for those who wish to contribute to the planning of the 2016 SPOCO TT series. Anyone who has an interest, point of view, suggestion(s) is most welcome. The things I would like us to consider are;

1. Routes
2. What we could do to broaden the appeal of the TT events.
3. Incentives/encouragement for officials, ( organisers, marshalls, timekeepers etc. A buddy system for example)
3. Any 'off the wall' suggestions such as 'on the night' spot prizes.
Basically, nothing ruled out, ( so long as it conforms to CTT regs etc!).

I appreciate the time and date won't suit everyone but it's when YBS can accomodate us. Please let me know who is attending so I can let YBS know numbers.

I look forward to a productive meeting which will help take this great series to the next level. :D

Kind regards David

Apologies but have tickets for the lecture on the science of cycling performance at St Peter's that evenings.
Slight shame that the dates clash as would have enjoyed the Spoco planning evening

Yeah, shame about the clash. I think I'll turn up for the meeting though, as I already know the answer to "can science make a cyclist faster" is "yes".

Chatting with Muzzy recently, we thought that the series of ten could be turned into 3x rides on each of three courses, plus an evening hillclimb? How's that for an idea?

Music to my ears! Better able to benchmark performance. Thanks for agreeing to come along. Roll up everyone else. All ideas open for discussion!

Hi Folks,

My apologies but some key people are now unable to attend the meeting on the 11th so may I suggest we postpone the SPOCO TT planning meeting to a date to be fixed, hopefully soon. The evening was originally booked for the committee meeting so of members want to reinstate that meeting for 7.30 on the 11th at YBS then we have the venue. My apologies for any inconvenience/confusion caused.

Kind regards David

Dave
what are the current plans for the rescheduled meeting, unfortunately I could make the original date of the 11th, so if any new date is planned I will try to be there.

Many thanks Bernard. I think it would be a good idea to have a seperate meeting to discuss SPOCO TT before we get swept up in the melee of Christmas. I'm very flexible. Can we agree an evening meeting in the coming fortnight?

Kind regards David

I'm sure we could, but you'll need to suggest a date!

I'm free pretty much all next week, but am busier the week after - Thursday and possibly Friday could work but I'm busy Mon-Weds.

Thursday/Friday next week is possible for me too, but things may change due to a relative being in hospital.
