The stormy weather looks like it will have passed by Saturday, so I have planned a slightly longer ride than previous weeks out to Masham. This should allow us to ride home with the moderate wind on our backs. If people want a shorter alternative, please post a reply and we can alter the plan or pick a different route.
08:45 start, 75 miles Square to Square so I expect us to be back in York at about 13:00.

Hello, whilst I joined the club a few weeks ago, I have not managed to get out with you due to a crash. However, the ride tomorrow sounds like a good route, but was wondering whether this is a really fast group? I don't want to slow you down!
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,
Welcome to Clifton. The 08:45 rides are run as fast social rides. We go at a pace similar to the training ride (dependent on time of year and who is out with us); however, we keep the group together as much as possible and get everyone back into York as a group for 12:30-13:00. With the calm wind tomorrow, I expect the pace to be about 20 mph and average 19 with the climb thrown in the middle. If you are comfortable riding in a group, you shouldn't have too much trouble keeping up: the climb tomorrow is a good one though.
There is also a good range of rides from the Square at 10:00 with the route to Masham being popular. These rides tend to be longer as we get into the summer and a more diverse range of speed is catered for with a cafe stop in the middle to regroup.
If you do come down for the 08:45, please introduce yourself and we will make sure you have a good ride and get back to York with the group.
Best wishes,
Mike
