Hi all it's been a bit since I posted anything and not been out with Kevins group for a while but I have been lucky enough to get a place in this year's London 100 and was wondering if anyone had ridden it before or was going to ride it this year and had any ideas of where to stay and the logistics of getting from A - B. in London... Hi Dave
I did this ride in 2014 as did a couple of other members. I chose to go with a travel package with sports tours international. This was not the cheapest option by any means as I went for the full weekend which meant I saw the racing over the weekend.
It did mean I didn't have to organise accommodation etc. The plan is to try anda get accommodation if thats your plan somewhere Central. I was 7 miles from the Olympic park but only about 1/2 mile from the finish on the mall. So I rode in the morning to start. Trust me when say it won't be difficult to find the start as you will end up riding with hundreds of other cyclists joiningbthe route also it its very well sign posted using the cities matrix signs.
As for registering on the days before you have to get to the excell centre. This was much easier than I antipicitated. Simply get an Oyster card before you go or a travel card for the zones you are travelling in from the tube station on the day and just use the line and trains closest to where you are in London using a tube map to get to custom house station which serves the excel . You will have to us a combination of the tube and docklands light railway. It was a well a organised event. The weather was rubbish last year but that the only thing you cannot plan unfortunately.
Also you will receive plenty of stuff explaining all your options on travelling and what you need to do etc. I had the same worries last year and asked the same on the forum and got some good advice.
Hope this helps
Jon
