Winter Solstice Tan Hill Challenge
Posted: Tue Dec 16, 2014 3:29 pm
This Sunday, 0730 start.
The 10th running of the winter solstice version. There was another year we cancelled it due to weather and three of the ten we didn't get any further than Keld, as there was 15cm of snow across the road. Another year it was -10°C as we left Leyburn towards Hawes, but we got around and the scenery was incredible. Other years though it's been better than August.
Am expecting a good half dozen or so riders on Sunday. As ever it's a two café strategy and the last 3 hours will be in darkness (very dark in fact, it's a new moon). Bring good lights, good weatherproofs, low gears, team spirit and lots of (proper) food.
143 miles Square to Square. No Challenge Points, but plenty of bragging rights.
Bring it on
