Cycle Insurance

I've always insured my bikes under my house insurance and upped my premium to suit the bikes value however when the renewal quote came I was pleased to see that the overall cost was the same as last year it was only when I read the cover more closely that they had reduced the maximum payout for pedal cycles to £500 and my best bike which I had itemised under personal items along with the other bikes would not be insured when ridden and also when securely locked away from home which I'm sure you would agree is not much use.
On getting quotes from some other home Insurers they also did not insure bikes over a certain value away from the home, I wonder if this is becoming normal practice now and may be worth checking your policies when they come up for renewal.
To help me in my search for this years cover I would really appreciate it if anyone who has recently renewed their home insurance can recommend an Insurer who does insure the more valuable bikes when they are away from the home bearing in mind that this is a public forum and it may be better if you could PM me if your quoting any specific values etc also if I had to insure separately through any cycle specific insurers which one of those would you recommend me to look at..
Many Thanks
