Weekend Round-up 23/24 Nov

9 Intermediates set off for Thirsk. Matt, Fin &Jen, Kevin, Dave C, myself and 3 others whose names, I am ashamed to say, escape me.
Strensall, Farlington, Brandsby, Yearsley, Coxwold, Felixkirk to Thirsk. Roads rather greasy so pace steady rather than brisk, with clear skies and lovely autumn shades.
Approaching Coxwold we experienced an unusual interaction with a couple in a 4x4 who tooted their horn as they past us, semingly as a rebuke. Matt demonstrated his index and middle fingers in a reverse Churchillian festure whereupon the car halted, the couple jumped out and berated us, railing at the 'gangs' of cyclists marauding around 'their' roads. Eventually common-sense prevailed and we parted on good terms.
At Thirsk, due to some confusion Dave C and I ended up in Upstairs Downstairs cafe ( the one with the friendly French proprietor). The others - I think - patronised Kev's recommended cafe.
On the way back, Matt had a rear p********re which seemed sorted until he hit a large pothole a mile or so further down the road when the tyre deflated rapidly again
From then on the trip back, still in glorious sunshine, was uneventful.
Thanks to all for a splendid day out!
