Not sure if the Endura Helium as replaced the Equipe that I have had since summer 2012, if it is then I would certianly recommend it.
I have kept dry thru' some heavy downpours and it is very light, also Kevin bought one after seeing how mine performed.

I've been using a Gore Bike Wear "Path" in Neon (Yellow) Gore Tex. Absolutely fantastic. Light, durable, soft fabric, virtually no sweat, brilliant cut that doesn't flap.

I'm sure our retail partners (that's a new phrase for me) respect the fact that after a while in this game we get a bit particular about just what we want. The businesses you list can only hold a limitted stock and if the item we require is only available on-line then I'm sure our partners wouldn't expect us to compromise our choice. Furthermore they will acknowledge that none of them are registered charities and while Clifton members will likely pay a little extra in the light of the professional advice they have received in the past and maybe future, nobody should feel obliged to pay significantly extra. While our RPs are often competitive and will often offer a bit of a discount I think they will agree that with their overheads they cannot always be so.

So members shouldn't feel ashamed of the w-word, or r-word or even the c-word.....

Thanks Rob, some excellent points well raised. This is a hot topic for all local cycling retailers who have to find a point of differentiation if they are to compete with the big online chains. Of course you’re right and local retailers must meet the commercial challenges of providing sufficient choice and competitive pricing if they are to retain the custom of our members.

The Aussie campaign slogan was meant to be blunt to make people think before acting blindly. It’s important that we support our local shops, not only because they’ve bailed us out any number of times when we’ve been in trouble personally, but they have also supported the club when asked, and certainly without them, the Cliftonite would not have been published. Sometimes the deal is not just about price, it’s about getting worthwhile pre & post sale service and advice which is invaluable. These shops exist because they make margins on sales, so without sales they won’t exist. Certainly members should use their common sense to find the best deal, but do think about visiting one of the Club’s advertising partners first, in the shop or on their website, it’s then up to the shop to meet your needs. If they can't, you obviously should find the best deal wherever you can.

I hope to be back out there as soon as I can hold a knife to butter my scone in a cafe Rob, which is obviously more important than wrestling handlebars or brake levers.
