I'm in the same boat. Keen to ride on Sunday as well. I'll bring a form with me and enter on the day if that's okay.

8am start, is that correct?

Thanks

John

Hi Steve,
Did not get my entry in time either. Spoken to at least 3 others that are planning to enter on the day. Thought I should drop you a line out of courtesy and for your catering purposes. Hope there is a good group again this year.

Gents, yes that will be OK. It will help if you can bring the entry form filled in.

Hi, just wondering if there is a little extra entry fee if you don't have an Audax membership? Thanks.

If you are not an Audax uk or ctc member it is £2 extra for 3rd party insurance, I believe.

Yes, £2 extra if you're not an Audax or CTC member. This event is under Audax UK regs - www.aukweb.net
You get third party insurance (for claims in excess of £250) during the event - the £2 goes to the insurer. Better still, don't crash into anyone, or crash at all for that matter - I don't want the paperwork.

Ride start is 8am.

Just wanted say thanks to Steve and family for the organisation and welcome food and drink at the end of the ride.

Was in a group of about 9-12 all day which worked well together although I was definitely feeling it by the end. Was pedalling squares by Tollerton and my backside was in need of a cushion. Started out a little bleak with mist and large puddles on the way to Topcliffe and we managed to take a wrong turn before Middleham even with at least 3 Garmin 800's devices between us. Bacon sandwich stop at Askrigg and then the sun arrived in time for Buttertubs. Lovely climb as always and it was nice to see IanH at Tan Hill welcoming all the riders.
Spectacular over Grinton and the run down to Leyburn. Large sections of the road has been resurfaced, presumably for the tour. Would be a great place to watch the pro's next year.
Thanks to AndyM, JohnS, Nigel, Heather, DaveC, Pete and Scott, for continual company, and Dr Dave, Tony, and 'tri-bar' Bob during the run out or back.

Excellent day out as always. Pity there were not a few more starters. I think some are put off by the distance, but with two cafe stops and plenty of refuling it's more a trial of 'bottom endurance' with 8+ hours in the saddle.

Arrived in plenty of time for the start to find I'd left my wallet at home so put out a call to my emergency support crew to bring me some cash. By the time this was achieved the bunch was 20 minutes up the road so I resigned myself to a solo ride round.

Heading out into the north-westerly it immediately clear that it was going to be a long day so took things steadily as there was no realistic prospect of overhauling the peloton - especially with Richard and Andy driving the pace :)

Had a cuppa and bite at Masham - arrived as Steve and Dawn were finishing their repast. Then progressed along Wensleydale enjoying the solitude but also missing some company.

Caught up with a straggler from the bunch at Sedbusk who reported that the bunch, having stopped at Askrigg were only 10 mins or so up the road so decided to drill it up the hills to see if could reel them in before they left Tan Hill. Luckily just as I was begining to think this was reckless folly, the Inn hove into view with......a gaggle of cyclists gathered outside! A particular pleasure was seeing Ian and Barbara enjoying a pint in the sunshine. Won't be long until Ian is back kicking butt I'm sure.

A quick Brevet stamping and a grabbed piece of Flapjack and I was tanking it down to Reeth with Team Racer (Andy, Richard, John S and Dave C) with another young chap whose name I never picked up. Paid for this a bit up Grinton Moor but wasn't last getting there and was grateful for the leisurely snack and cuppa before the flat drag back to York.

Was feeling a bit tired by the time we left Bedale so was grateful for Andy and Richard pulling on the front - sorry I didn't take much of a turn

133 miles altogether - a Grand Day Out, thanks to all for the company on the way home and of course to Steve and family for their efforts.

PS Hope Liz wasn't too displeased when u got home Bob

Also just wanted to say thanks to Broomwagon for organising the Tan Hill ride again this year.

We had a grand day out - although it was a long, hard day it was also fun - the scenery is stunning, the weather was fantastic - especially for a Bank Holiday weekend! - and the tea and cakes at the end were very welcome indeed!

Many thanks, Dawn

My second Tan Hill Audax. Really enjoyed it - the weather was spot on, and thanks to all for the good company which always makes the time fly by.

Big thanks to Mr Broomwagon and family for the very welcome spread at the end and for the great organisation.
