Some of the K Riders may remember me. I'm Jonathan and I came on several Saturday rides in the spring, talking of trying to get fit for a 24hour ride in June. I had done very little club riding before and I was sort of hoping I would either hate it or be so bad that the plan would be hopelessly ambitious. In the event, you all put up with me, gave me lots of advice and support, and I loved it. I disappeared off the scene as we started to train as a group, and do longer rides. The last I saw of some of you was a brief meeting in Ripon as you did the Wiggington 100 as I was doing the 300. Anyway, we made it! On June 7th/8th a group of 11 of us, led by Paul Scott, did 250 miles, Hull-Scarborough-Dalby-York-Selby-Goole-Scunthorpe-Grimsby-Hull, in a little over 23 hours. Average moving speed 15.5mph. It was a wonderful experience, surprisingly untraumatic, and at the cost of one puncture and a slightly dodgy front mech. Also lost sleep and aching muscles for a few days. I am now recuperating on an extended holiday in Mallorca, and wondering if I ever want to get on a bike again!
The K rides played a huge part in getting me there. Thanks to all of you, particularly Kevin.
Hope to see you again.
