Next Weeks Saturday 8.45 ride

Does anyone want to suggest a route, and guide the group round for next week?

About 50 miles, quiet roads & some hills.

If you are needing inspiration, you can contact, me, Karl or Reuben as we have a few 'off the shelf routes' to offer.

I won't be out next week (saving my legs for the Driffield triathlon  )

Please let me know by end of play on Wednesday, so that we can get it in the weekly news.

Some suggested Routes. All can be done clockwise or anticlockwise for variation:

Hovingham, 50m, slightly lumpy (http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2508294) .gpx file

Image

Boroughbridge, 55m, flat and fast (http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2508327) .gpx file

Image

Millington, 55m, Hilly (http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2508345).gpx file

There's also the southern training ride loop (Taddy, Micklefield, Sherburn, Cawood) which could be shortened slightly..but I'm not 100% on the bit between Taddy and Sherburn to plot it.

The 1st map anti clockwise would be good in my opinion.anymore takers for this?

The Hovingham route looks good, and going anti clockwise means that the ring-road underpass on the A19 is on the correct side of the road.

I think this is the Taddy, Sherburn loop but perhaps one of the regulars on the training ride can correct me.

52m, mostly flat but a little lumpy in the middle. Usually done anticlockwise (http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2509018) .gpx file

If it's useful and the routes are agreeable I can arrange to have these maps and the .gpx files filed somewhere on the website. Should make organising and leading the rides easier each week. Check weather, pick a route and announce it, turn up and ride :D

You've read our collective minds.

Karl and Reuben have been working away on this, but we were waiting until the default route got bedded-in, before mixing it up a bit.

Thanks for the routes. Watch this space...

Thanks Tullio for great route suggestions. The training route you have posted is correct - it's a really nice route as you tend to get blown rather quickly back to York (particularly when with Phil et al)!

Personally I really want this 8:45am ride to do a variation of routes and explore the local area. It will make the whole thing more interesting for everyone. The only thing we need is someone to say that they will be in the square at 8:45am and they will know the route.

Steve and I aren't around this weekend. Paul - are you happy to shout "left", "right", "straight on" on the Sheriff Hutton - Hovingham - Easingwold - Brafferton route? That's really all the job is!

Great stuff, thanks Tullio. Yes, you only need to know the route - this group seems very good at collectively looking after each other, stopping at top of hills, watching for anyone falling off back etc.

So route is as per first suggestion from Tullio: Haxby - Strensall - Sheriff Hutton - Hovingham - Easingwold - Brafferton - Tollerton - Shipton - Overton

I hope you all enjoy going up Terrington Bank - that is always a shock after the flatlands of York!
