York Cycling City Races, Sunday 21st July

I'm posting this on here as an informal update - all of what's described still needs to be okayed at an upcoming committee meeting and much of the arrangements are still provisional. However I wanted to get the date in people's diaries and, since it's been the subject of British Cycling and City of York Council press releases, clarify what's happening.
The original plans to repeat the programme from the last running of this event (2011) were superseded when York was designated for a stage start of the 2014 TdF. This, and the fact that this year's YCCR will be on the same day as the last day of this year's TdF sparked discussions between CoYC and BC about making more of it. As a result, the event will include both the men's and women's National Circuit Championships. This is quite a coup - I think it's the first time both events have been run side-by-side and it should guarantee big crowds. Plus, it'll be televised!
But it gets better:- CoYC are planning on putting up a number of big screens in the city centre to show the last stage of the Tour. This will vary from normal timings with a later finish (around 9:45 local time) so this will slot in after our racing has finished.
And... ...we'll still be running the Youth event and 3rds/4ths event as previously planned, so there's still a chance to get Out There in front of cheering crowds with a professional commentator.
Needless to say it would be great to make sure Clifton gets plenty of publicity. We'll be running the Youth and 3rds/4ths races (with Andy Myers at the helm) and BC will deal with the champs races. There will be proper stewards to control crossing points but we'll need helpers at the HQ, marshals for the corners for all the races, and people to run the Clifton gazebo and tell the visiting hordes all about us.
There will be more info in due course but the message at this stage is:- please put the date in your diary!
