As trailed previously, this Sunday sees the Xmas Pudding Clubrun.
Destination: The Golden Grid Cafe on Scarborough seafront.
No need to book, just turn up in The Square at 0900.
The ride is just over 100miles and there's some heavy roads. Couple this with an extended cafe stop - don't expect to get back in daylight!
You may also have noticed that there's a northern European winter going on outside. No need to panic, we get one about every 12 months. As ever at this time of year, commit to your ride in advance but be sensible on the morning. Fretting over weather forecasts doesn't get you anywhere.
Hopefully see you in The Square at 0900 (tinsel optional)

Xmas Pudding Sunday Clubrun

As I could not make the Xmas lunch the day before, joined Rob, Andy, Steen, Dave C, and Tom F on the Xmas pudding ride to Scarborough. Great (and long) day in the saddle under blue skies to the coast. Only three punctures including one in Strensall when a random pensioner walking his dog stopped to chat and told us about his father-in-law who used to ride for Clifton in the 1920's!
Intended cafe in Scarbrough was full so ended up a few doors down with the promise of a 3 course lunch. Didn't realise until Sunday that a large Yorkshire pudding with onion gravy is a traditional starter in these parts, which was followed by an excellent turkey dinner with all the trimmings. The only downer was that there was no pudding
and we had to make do with a scone or slice of shortbread. Fully fueled to the finish we made our way back riding into the sunset against a crosswind.
Hardmen of the day were Rob and TomF for riding fixed, but the biscuit went to Dave C who had done the training ride and Xmas lunch ride on Saturday, a gig in Scarborough on Saturday night, followed by the Xmas pudding ride the following day (+ another gig that night).
Thanks to Rob and Andy for keeping us on the right track (although if I remember right we looked lost for a moment around Strensall?)
