Quite an interesting, and unusually objective, article that tries to explain why cyclists and motorcyclists are often 'not seen' by car drivers.

I have to say that personally, the biggest improvement to seeing cyclists, especially in town, is flashing LED lights. They do seem to make cyclists jump out from the muddle more than hi vis clothing.

This is quite profound when you see Mellys post on Brad Wiggins been knocked off. Does beg a few questions like what's a pro cyclist doing training in the dark and was he in all black Sky kit? But there is nothing to say he wasnt in civvies & just nipping down to the chippy? He was maybe none of these things and lit up like a Christmas tree - there doesnt seem to be much information yet?
Its a really bizarre one for me - so much of the responsibility lies with the cyclist yet so many seem totally oblivious to the risk - no lights, no reflective clothing. I dont really understand why so many club cyclists wear all black with no thought about taking lights?
Sundays ride started in goodish visibility but quickly degenerated into foggy conditions - I had lights on all day. We past other ghost-like cyclists in the mist who were barely visible. It only needs to go wrong once!
