It must be summer...it's the Wed evening MTBing

By popular demand the Wednesday evening MTB rides are on again until we lose the light.

Same format as normal i.e. weekly arrangements made via the discussion board.

These are ad hoc rides with no formal leader or organiser. Just make arrangements to meet and ride.

Maybe we'll be really adventurous this year and try somewhere other than Castle Howard at some point, but for now I suggest usual meeting place at Castle Howard Lake.

OK, Castle Howard lay-by, by the Lake (Coneysthorpe X-roads), I'll be there at 1900 next Wed for an easy going 90 mins ride.

If anyone wants a lift out; how about Stockton Lane roundabout at 1830 as last year?

Castle Howard = short drive + little map reading + nice countryside + nothing too technical 8)

Nigel has indeed come up trumps and may even be joining us Weds night

All i need to do now is finish off the rest of the bike might carry a few extra tools Weds pm :)

re. travel arrangements

Can i provisionally book in to go with you please Rob?

If we need more spaces i should be able to take our car but its currently set up for carrying children rather than bikes!

Hi all,

Is the plan to run these rides weekly this year instead of fortnightly?

Paul suggested that and sounds good to me. Do you think that's a good idea? Obviously not everyone will be able to make them all, but there's more mtb riders now so should work.

Yes I do think it's a good idea, beats waiting a whole month for the next one if you have a Wed night committment (as I do tomorrow).

If they are fornightly from the first I won't make any as they'll be on the same weeks as the TLIs and I can't really bugger off for the whole night two nights in a row. I'll come next Wednesday though,

Good ride on Wednesday night, without appearing to be a gadget fiend the GPS gave the following results:

Miles - 15.02
Time - 1hr 26 mins
Ave Speed - 10.4mph
Pace - 5.47min/mile
Ascent - 1229ft
Descent - 1254ft
Calories - 1003

I love gadgets me :D

Rob,

Interesting stats...particularly the one about your car having sunk 25ft by the time you got back to it. Hope you managed to dig it out OK ;-)

I've got a Garmin Edge too and it can always be relied upon to yield first class nonsense in among the useful stuff - the odd burst at 600mph+ always impresses people
