Weekend Roundup 15/16th

Big group of 14 in The Square this morning for the Best of Both Worlds ride. Age range 17 to 71 with every decade represented....
Standard route north, with very early cafe stop in Helmesley (my agents had been out on Saturday and informed me that Hutton le Hole had temps in and were very slow).
Had decided the best of The Moors could be summed up with the Bransdale Loop - am guessing few would argue. Good climbs, quiet roads, smashing scenery. The group stayed together pretty well on the climbs thanks to some sensible pace making by Andy and Sean.
Surprise View took us to H-le-H then the long transition to the Wolds. A few early baths were opted for and this left Ian, Steen, Andy, Sean, Arnie, young Pete, Nigel, IanH and self.
A few clouds on the horizon so took our second stop early in Malton while we were still dry. Then into the Wolds via Birdsall. For the Wolds how can you beat Thixendale and Millington Pastures? Final loop around Kilnwick Percy and the lung buster out of Nunburnholme.
Swung for home then with some great group riding into the wind. Rain finally found us in Stammy Bridge, but by then we didn't care!
190k for me, a few more for the rest riding into town. Average speed just shy of 27kph showed just how efficiently everyone rode over all those hills. Brilliant.
Think I'm giving Arthur Metcalfe ride a miss next week. (Post on the forum though if you're meeting in the Square to ride out.) So today was my last bonkers long ride of the year..... unless someone persuades us to go round Tan Hill in December again...
