Bike storage

Post by Tobzlerone »

Well I have never being fortunate enough to have a summer bike, or unfortunate enough to have an accident which has had me off the bike for a long period of time, so I probably should have asked this earlier!

Do I need to do anything to keep my bike in good condition whilst not in use? Obviously it's had a thorough cleaning. But do I need to alter anything else like tyre pressures or lubrication?

Cheers

Hi Toby

I would make sure you keep it in a dry place, a damp place would encourage some corrosion. + normal lubrication.

Not sure it's necessary but I generally shift gears so that the cables aren't under tension whilst it's in storage..

They also benefit from the occasional stroking and reassurance that they haven't been abandoned every once in a while
