Been away from any club rides for a couple of weeks since the epic Midnight ride to Lancaster. It hasn't taken me that long to recover just had other things on :)

Decide to join the Saturday ride to Brid with the 'inters'. Along with 9 others the pace was brisk over undulating terrain into the the easterly breeze. We managed an av. of 18mph from the sq to the coast. By the time we were back in York that had risen to 18.6mph so do the maths :D We were averaging over 20 at times and my legs were feeling it around Kirkham. There were some amusing moments though one of which include Tony G following a moped which struggled past us. Must of thought it was the Olympic keiren. Really enjoyed the ride and the wolds looked great in the sunshine. Door to door just shy of 130 mile for me at an av of 17.5mph. I have had only 2 rides faster than that on club rides and they were both the 3 bridges I've done which is pan flat  so was quite pleased overall as I feel ok today

Certainly was a great trip to Bridlington enjoyed by Saturday’s “A”/ Intermediates ride: Neil S, Pete, Dave C, Jon G, Dan G, Tony G, Paul S, Shaun W and Ian H.

Approaching Brid, we hoped that the “Wiggins/ Hoy/ Pendleton/ Froome effect” might have gripped the public and result in us being treated like professional cyclists: water poured over our backs, people clapping, cans of Coke offered, TV helicopter overhead.
Instead, we were greeted by some stares, cigarettes dragged from gobs and the chip shop waitress' only question being “mushy or garden?”
A little Olympic cycling success doesn’t bother a Brit on holiday. 8)
(By the way, fish and chips are terrific for cycling as you can ride for hours on those calories. A sports nutrition company should bring out a fish and chips flavoured energy gel).

Poor motorcyclist must've had a fright when he looked in his rear mirror at a face smiling back at him, as he suddenly became a Derny rider.
We clocked 96 miles. And back home, road grime on the forehead and cheeks signalled a good day out.
