What, has nobody else done anything this weekend? Okay, I'll start a thread then.

As I rode to the square, I promised myself a nice gentle K ride, in which I'd rediscover the art of gentle cycling after last week's suffer-fest. Kevin was of another opinion, saying something to the effect of "Oi Charlie, only people who put in a proper effort and ride 250+ miles in a 12h are allowed a rest week, take your piddling 235 and get in the inters group for some training*". Off with the inters I went, with a group comprising me, Karl, John C, Tony G, young Dan, Richard, Mike, Fi, Simon W, Richard D, Ian H, Sean W and the mystery man. MM was the guy with Castelli kit and a Wilier bike - sorry, I didn't catch your name. I may also have missed a couple of people off the list, so sorry if I've forgotten you: it was a big group!

My thighs groaned as I left the lights at Gillygate. I still hadn't recovered and I'd chosen the wrong ride! I hung off the back for most of the day, learning what it must feel like to be an Australian pursuiter up against the likes of Thomas, Clancy & co. Darren, your countrymen have my deepest sympathies

It may have been my hardest inters ride ever, but it was still an enjoyable day. The weather was kind to us apart from one heavy shower in the afternoon, the North Yorks Moors scenery was grand and the cafe stop in Rosedale was livened up by some heated debate about helmets! One tip though: don't order the filter coffee. It may be 50p cheaper than the americano but it's half the size!

Training ride for me - out to Boroughbridge. With the usual racing monsters away......racing, John and Rich stepped up to the mark of dishing out the hurt, which they did admirably. Along with training ride newbie (army) Liam demonstrating toughness gained through endurance running it didn't feel any easier than usual.

Sorry to the chap who was just slightly off the pace on the old A168, you should have just kept it turning because it always ramps up on that stretch and then slows down again. We came back to look for you but you'd gone.
