Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am John, and I have recently joined CCC, I am a novice, but want to get in to endurance rides. Obviously I need to start out with some club rides.
Please could somebody let me know if there are any club rides or competitions that I could get involved in.
Happy Riding,
John

Hi John,
Yes, there are lots of club rides for you to take part in. On Saturdays there are three choices: the first two are the K ride, led by Kevin, which does 60-70 miles at 13-14mph with a cafe stop, the second is the intermediate ride, which does 80-90 miles at 16-17mph, also with a cafe stop. Both these rides go at the pace of the slowest rider and both leave Exhibition Square at 10am. There's then the training ride, which does maybe 60mph non-stop at 20+mph. When you turn up to the square for the first time, try out the K ride and see how you go from there.
On Sundays there is Rob's club run at 9am from Exhibition Square, which occasionally does epic rides that you'll see posted on here (such as last year's
Ullswater Overnighter) but which will generally have speed/distance not too dissimilar to the intermediate ride.
If you receive Virginie's weekly updates, you'll hear about all these rides on the Thursday or Friday beforehand. See you on the road!
[Edit: Oh yes, as for competitions there is the
challenge series, where you get points for doing certain rides throughout the year. You still have plenty of time to get yourself 6 points for a nice shiny bronze medal.]

You can pretty much guarantee on rides every weekend - apart from last one
I replied to another post and being lazy will paste in: links and offer may assist?
Link to our Getting Started may assist; contains list of rides and what to expect

I have no idea on your current level of fitness and how much riding you have done before but if in doubt would suggest starting off with Willys Easy Riders
The Easy Riders are ramping up the distance a bit on a weekend - i think up to 60 miles / 6 hours - but also do ad hoc evening rides
These are generally organised by email; if you want to go on list drop me PM with your email address and will pass on
Have fun
