Weather Forecasting

I'm sorry, but does the met office actually know what they are doing? They can't forecast the weather as it is happening, never mind in the morning for that afternoon!

Night before, check weather, pack appropriate kit for temperature, wind, rain. (I get a lift to work and ride home). Morning 6.45, check weather, change kit in bag for updated forecast. Late morning, check weather again feel dismayed as the forecast has changed, again! After lunch check weather and its changed again, and then get out on the bike at the end of the day to find the weather is doing something completely different! Sorry to sound so British talking about the weather, but there is no such thing as bad weather if you have the right kit. Would just help planning if they could get the forecast anywhere near right. Better just looking out the window and sticking a licked finger in the air!

Its too changeable at the moment Col - they havent really got a clue.
The BBC for instance are only really any good at telling us what the weather is actually doing now. Other than that they just predict the worst case scenario working on the principal that if it doesnt happen you wont really care! If their current 5 day forcast is to be believed it isnt going to stop raining - I'm building an ark tomorrow!
I tend to just look at the temperatures which are usually about right - if its hovering around 20deg C it isnt going to be cold rain or shine so worth taking the risk dressing down a bit?

So far, last night's forecast seems painfully accurate.
Ark-construction notes on the BBC website are a bit vague though.

The bad news is forecast "heavy rain" until 6pm

The good news is forecast "sunny" 2pm tomorrow for the time trial :)
