Can anyone recommend some routes in the Keswick area of the Lake District? On and off road would be good - Thanks :)

One of the best places to ride in the country!

This series of books is the only guide books i trust.

Routes are all fun unlike those books written in the '80s that just get reprinted with a new cover.

Just a warning when these books give gradings trust them. Used to doing blacks in most guide books, one of the blue descent in this book was terrifying!

A good off road ride that tqkes a good couple of hours is as follows.
Head to keswick swimming baths where you will pick up the old disused railway line to Threkeld, at the threkeld follow signs for the Blencathera centre, at the centre continue straight on along the bridle path for skiddaw house. Continue straight past Skiddaw house for white water dash, descend from white water dash on wide path to unclassified road, at road turn left and follow road to t junction. Turn left at t junction along road on north side of bassenthwaite lake past Dodd wood. Check on O/s map for the next bit as the grey matter cant recall from memory, you need to take an unclassified road upto loughrig fell where you pick up a bridle way and descend back into keswick. This route is shown in some guide books as Skiddaw round.

Also worth a visit is the trail centre at Whinlater

Have fun its a truly beautiful area
