It's on 20th May and it's at Sheriff Hutton.
I don't suppose anyone wants to ride the 90 mile Elite race, but there's a Vets championship too, over 55 miles. We can put a good team in this.

I am 10th reserve for the Steve Rigby race the previous weekend so I assume I am very unlikely to get a ride? Would not like to have a wasted journey to Wakefield when I could be up in the moors with a cup of tea. Does anybody have much experience of gaining reserve rides that far down the list?
I will enter the race at Sherrif Hutton anyway even though it could be a painful morning. Count me in Darren, though if you want to apply any team tactics I will need some guidance.

The other week every single reserve got a ride, plus some who turned up on the day. I still don't think there was 60 riders. The thing with having to enter races so early now is a third of the field who thought it was a good idea in January are having doubts. Maybe it's after getting a kickin' all winter on the training rides, and not getting as fit as they thought they might.
Phone the organiser nearer the time and see if many have cried off.
Tactics...We let the most photogenic ride up the road for the win, and sit everyone else on the front of the bunch....or maybe we should discuss this nearer the time. I love talking tactics, but they usually only work if you've got the legs. You and a few others have definitely got the legs from what I've seen this winter.

I may give this one a go...
In our case (and I include myself in this!) it may well be a matter of sending the 'least' unphotogenic (if that's a proper word) to the front...
I entered a few BC races last year either as reserve or just turning up on the day and got a ride everytime....Not done the Steve Rigby before so don't know how popular it is though

Cam you're the strongest rider in the club at the moment, it's a no brainer for you fella...I'm talking about the vets race, you won't be racing the likes of Kit, and Jamie.

I have the second hairiest legs in the club, and the girth to make it difficult to see round me if I"m sat on the front (allowing other more photogenic riders to escape unseen...)
So I'm in if I can figure out how to enter.
Btw - is 'Sheriff Hutton' just another way of saying 'Bulmer'? That should be fun...

I'm also tempted to give it a go, for the experience. If there's a tactic involving letting a decoy drop off the back to lull other club riders into a false sense of security, I'm your man. Mind you, whether that's the tactic or not that's undoubtedly what I'll be doing
I'll see how much of a kicking I get at Barton this weekend and decide after that. If nothing else it will be another Clifton Jersey at the start line...

Where are the moderators? Someone appears to have hacked my account and suggested I may have a go at the vets race!
Six laps on my own around Barton is one thing; four and a half laps of the Bulmer circuit on my own is entirely another.
If I am seen at the start line, it will be as a supporter of the Clifton team- I promise i will be very vocal!!!
