Hello,

I have an engagement in Scarborough in a couple of weeks and I might be tempted to cycle there. The A64 is my idea of hell on a bike (to be revised if I ever make it to Roubaix) and I see few other options. Does anyone on here have a favoured route that isn't too circuitous? I'd like to avoid the Wolds if possible, but I could manage that.

Various standard routes to Malton, Then Thornton-le-Dale. From there go through Dalby Forest to Langdale End, Hackness, Scalby and into Scarborough. Just over 50 miles.

Plan B. Go up Gally Gap (Stamford Bridge to Malton Rd) and take a right to Langton, then lanes to Setringham Bank, descend to Rillington. There's a bike path along the side of the A64 going E for 2 miles then turn left and cross the vale of Pickering to Snainton. Head north (Nettledale Lane?) then drop into Troutsdale - onto Hackness and then as the other route.
