The next few Sundays....

I'm not out this week, but I know there are few experienced types who will do the navigating. Obviously up to you guys, but I'd suggest Hutton-le-hole and Surprise View, with a jaunt round Cockayne if conditions are favourable.
Thereafter I'll be in the Square as normal up to Xmas, rain or shine. I'm thinking of a standard clubrun next week around Rievaulx area.
Then the week after, a long ride to the coast, with hopefully a Xmas dinner option (still investigating). Should be around 100miles in preparation for the week after...
....Winter Solstice Tan Hill ride. Those that have never come with us on this often claim its a ride for Bear Grylls type characters. But I can safely say that we've never had to dig an ice shelter, live off a diet of dung beetles, nor drink our own urine. But I can promise you an adventure that takes a little careful planning. It's sort of 3 rides for the price of one. 50 flatish miles up to Leyburn knocked off in an efficient 3 hours. Breakfast in the cafe, then 50 mountainous miles around 3 of the highest roads in England. Real wild scenery and you can go an hour without seeing a car. This leg can take closer to 4 hours before another refuel stop in Leyburn. Then its a 50 mile night ride home to York.
In 50 years time when we're sat in our wing-back chairs and tartan blankets in the Clifton Retirement Home, reminiscing about the great rides of our youth, I don't think that 40mins on the turbo at 115% lactate threshold will get a mention. Nor will a set of "sprint drills" at Appleton Roebuck. But I'll bet you a mug of cocoa that we'll talk of Winter Rides to Tan Hill.....
