The MTBers had a great weekend away in the Howgills.

At total of 30ish, + a few guest appearances, made it one of our biggest in a positively luxurious Bunkbarn just outside Sedburgh. A big MTB ride on Saturday with 18 snaking across the Hills to Bowderdale in some of the wettest conditions I've ever seen. Most of the tracks had streams running down and the ford crossings were mostly knee deep challenges. A group of roadies headed out to explore the hills for the day too and we all convened for a group feast in the evening.

Sunday both MTB and road rides went for shorter routes, in better weather to Dentdale before we headed back to York in time for tea.

Thanks to Ian and Sarah for most of the organising, Ian for doing an excellent job of shepherding the big group in difficult conditions, and various others for contributing to the cake and pudding mountain.

Looks like a good weekend at Howgills. Would have liked to have come but sadly couldnt due to other plans on the Sunday. Managed the Sat rides though. Turned up to find only 2 regular inter riders, Tony G and my self. As Tony was out for only 3 or 4 hours decide to ride with Kev and Co. As it was a large group it was split shortly after leaving York. This left 8 in our group led by Bernhard to Darley Mill via Aldwark, Arkendale, Brimham rocks , Summerbridge back via some interesting bridleways around Harrogate through Knareboroug, Tockwith and back to York . About 70 miles round trip and 103 door to door for me . A steady ride was just what my legs needed after some recent epic rides . Good company also with some new faces.

Only 2 out for the Sunday 9am run- Mark and myself- had a good run out round Coxwold and Kilburn, across to Hovingham for tea :D then pushed it on the way back via Castle Howard and Strensall. Very pleasant although maybe shorter than I had anticipated due to there being so few people out. Thanks Mark for a good morning run out...

Ycf 100 mile TT for me on sunday up at Topcliffe run in good conditions with the wind only getting up for the last 20 miles or so.
The bare bones of the experience for me were that the first 60 miles or so were not too bad with some reasonable progress being made. The next 20 or so miles some of the shine started to fade and the final blustery miles were not much fun at all with aches and pains appearing everywhere!
My initial reaction to my time of 4:30:15 was one of mild disappointment tempered with the knowledge that the event had got everything that I had got to give. But having spoken to various other competitors back at hq, who without exception were very encouraging and supportive I started to cheer up a bit and managed to retrieve my sense of humour by the second piece of cake!
10 miler on the v718 at Hull next week which should be good!
