Peter Gray Memorial Rides 17th July

I was just looking to see if I needed to submit any entry forms for rides in the next couple of months. Before anyone else gets confused in relation to the Peter Gray Memorial rides on 17th July, the Audax UK website (http://www.aukweb.net/events/) only lists the 100km ride, not the 220km ride some of us did last year. I emailed the organiser for clarification and he replied with the following:
Andrew Kirby wrote: I'm running the same rides as last year. Only the 100km ride is an Audax ride, the other 2 rides are CTC run events (so don't appear on AUK web-site). The reason for this is that the 210km ride as an Audax would mean riders would be able to get back in the early hours of Monday morning! The 220km ride has changed to a slightly shorter 210km route. You can check out the routes at:- http://www.amkirby.co.uk/York/PGrides.htm NOTE: New this year I've placed GPX files of the routes on the website for those with GPS Navigational units.
In terms of Clifton Challenge Series points, the shorter 100km ride is a 1 pointer and the longer 210k ride is a 4 pointer. I’m still a bit mentally scarred by the hurricane we rode into on Buttertubs last year (see http://discussion.cliftoncc.org/viewtopic.php?t=3013
). This year however, not only is the route slightly shorter, climbs such as The Stang and Fleet Moss are gone, making it much more accessible. In fact, comparing this new route with the recent 3 pointer to Robin Hoods Bay, I can’t help thinking there’s a free point on offer here…so it’s priced to sell!!
Deadline for £4 entry fee is Sunday 10th July.
